Anxiety Around The Coronavirus

I’m writing to encourage you during this troubling time in our nation. We hear of millions of people around the world, including many Americans, who are living in fear of the coronavirus as it spreads throughout the human family. We know “this too shall pass,” but for now, we must care for and comfort one another. There is good news for those who are followers of Jesus Christ. The Scripture invites us to “cast our anxieties on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Another verse reads, “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble” (Psalm 9:9). He tells us lovingly to “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1). Can you imagine that the Creator of the universe knows you and me personally and offers comfort during such a time as this? I also love the lyrics of an old hymn that reads, “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”
