In Genesis 2, we get a close look at the events that occurred in the Garden of Eden. We get to focus on the relationship between God and man. Pastor Greg Laurie shares valuable points from this book today. Notes: Genesis 2/Genesis 3 Elohim is the appropriate word to portray God as the Majestic Creator. Yahweh is the personal name God uses when dealing with humanity. Read: Genesis 2:7–9 God created man and breathed life into him. The word, “breathed,” is warmly personal. Genesis 2:7 Eden means, “delight.” God placed man in a real place called, Eden. Eden was hand-made by God Himself, untouched by sin and death, perfect. Adam was tasked with naming the animals. Genesis 2:20 Read: Genesis 2:18, 21–25 God created woman and brought her to the man. The word, “helper, ” does not imply inferiority; it’s the same term God uses to describe Himself as a helper to His people. God establishes the family and the home: A man and a woman. To have a successful marriage, you must both leave other relationships. Genesis 2:24 To have a successful marriage, the couple must cleave together. Cleave means, “to glue, to cling.” Marriage is a picture of Christ and the church! 1 Corinthians 7:32–33 Our greatest needs are not fulfilled in marriage but in Jesus! Read: Genesis 3:1–9 The devil undermines in four ways. Satan questioned God’s Word. “Has God, indeed, said?” Satan added to God’s Word. Genesis 3:3 God never said, “Neither shall you touch it.” Satan questioned God’s love. Satan denied God’s Word. Satan substituted his own lie. Every temptation can be resisted and overcome. James 1:12 Genesis 3:8 God wanted Adam to admit to and confess his sin.

If there’s a war raging, and someone mistakenly stumbles into the middle of it, the warriors don’t suddenly stop and say, ‘Hey, wait a minute, fellas, this guy isn’t part of it. Let’s wait ‘til he gets outta the way. No people who stumble into battle unaware often get caught in the crossfire. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie wants to make sure that doesn’t happen to us. He points out that we’re surrounded by spiritual warfare, and we need to be prepared to fight, and fight victoriously.
A pilot said, “the basics of aviation are really quite simple. You push the control stick forward and the houses get real big; you pull it back and the houses get real small.” But imagine if a pilot did lose track of the basics—can’t remember what those switches do, or even why they’re important. Well, today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us with a refresher course on the basics of the Christian faith. It’s a good reminder of the fundamentals that’ll keep us all from crashing and burning.
For every 1,000 live births in the U. S., there are 195 abortions. Nearly 20%. Think about that. Since 1973, more than 63 million unborn children never got the chance to live their lives. That’s more than the current population of 26 U.S. states combined. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie addresses that heartbreaking reality, and the need to take a stand. Pastor Greg, you recently took a trip to Washington, D.C. along with your wife. Describe the occasion.
Sometimes we may think that our effort, by itself, does count for much. Maybe we’re the only believer in our family ... or the only Christian at work ... or the only one in our group of friends at school. The odds are against us. Well today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie takes us to one of the most encouraging stories in the Old Testament. We’ll catch up with a military leader about to fight a battle, when God told him to send most of his army home so that God alone would get credit for the victory.
