Standing in the gap is about taking a place, turning up the light, expressing the truth, lifting a prayer, forgiving boldly, and pursuing God through adversity. Pastor Allen Jackson says God may ask you to stand in the gap in your home, in an office, in a classroom, in an operating room, on a factory floor, at a construction site. He is looking for people to say, “I’ll be a difference maker for God.”

We don’t often use “courage” and “faith” together in the context of our faith journey, but the truth is Christianity is currently the most persecuted faith in the world. Can you imagine that God would purposefully put us in a place to do hard things on His behalf? In order for us to learn to live with courageous faith, we need new eyes, ears, and hearts—a new awareness of the spiritual realities around us and the spiritual power available to us.
The dictionary says that courage is the ability to do something that frightens, or to display strength in the face of pain or grief. The Bible says that no matter our circumstances, we can live unafraid and full of courage because we have the authority of Jesus’ name and the Spirit of the living God within us. “The truth is not always encouraging,” Pastor Allen Jackson teaches,” but you can always respond to the truth with courage!”
Don’t make God shout at you—cultivate the practice of obeying Him right away. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson illustrates this principle by discussing Jonah’s life and his responses to God. The same grace that gave Jonah a second chance will give you and I the opportunity to be courageous in places where we previously displayed cowardice. Pastor Allen also offers three expectations we need to embrace so we can be courageous and have the faith of an overcomer.
