Determined Faith - Choices to Change a Generation - Part 2

Being faithful to God means choosing to follow Him, again and again—even when it’s difficult or doesn't make sense. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson uses Abraham’s life to illustrate how you can be walking in God’s plan, yet still encounter frustrations, obstacles, and distractions. This doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong course, but that you need to persevere and live with a determined faith. Pastor Allen also discusses blessings and curses, and how our choices today can impact our lives and the generations that follow us.

Jesus, His Followers, and Politics - Realms of Authority

We answer to many types of authority—the government, bosses, parents, teachers, and more—but all of these “earthly” realms of authority rest beneath the ultimate sovereignty of God. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses our need to know the Lord, revere Him, and live our lives in such a way that we honor Him and His Word. Many people do not live this way, dismissing God and ridiculing those with a biblical worldview. Jesus warned us of this. As His followers, we need to focus on pleasing God instead of bending our beliefs to fit popular opinion. Pastor Allen offers passages from Scripture where various Bible heroes spoke into the events of their day, bringing biblical truth into the public square. We’re called to bravely do the same today.

Jesus, His Followers, and Politics - Are We Awake Yet?

The word “political” now extends beyond describing a political party or elected officials. It’s being used as a label for people who speak about current events, values, and cultural trends—including Christians who share their biblical worldview. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses the importance of paying attention to current events and being aware of the cultural shifts happening around us. Some say Christians should not address today’s issues, but the Bible presents a different truth. The assignments God gave Moses, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Paul, Jesus, and others involved bringing God’s Truth into their culture and even directly addressing political leaders. Pastor Allen offers action steps to apply to our own lives, so we can be prepared to share our faith effectively and impact the world.

Disciples With Authority and Power - Part 2

Jesus gave His followers important assignments, but He didn’t leave them unequipped. His power and authority are available to us, if we decide to commit to following Him. In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses discipleship, as demonstrated in the Gospel of Luke. The twelve disciples didn’t always have the complete picture or understand entirely what Jesus was trying to tell them—but that didn’t stop Jesus from trusting them with the future of His Church. Jesus’ responses to them teach us about what discipleship should look like, even today. There’s a cost that comes with discipleship—but there’s a great reward, too: We surrender the things that fade in exchange for eternity with our Lord.

Listening, Learning and God's Power

How can we learn to hear God when He speaks to us? In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson explores what the Gospel of Luke has to say about listening to God’s direction over the noise of the world. He discusses the importance of prayer, Bible reading, obedience, and pursuing relationships with other Christ-followers. He also shares the contrast found between a few key miracle stories in Luke; they can help us understand how God’s instruction may differ from what culture tells us to do. Life-altering transformation is available to all of us as we choose to increasingly listen to and obey God.
