Luke McLaurine was a bombardier and navigator in a B-24 plane during WW2. After the plane malfunctioned, Luke and crew bailed over Austria where they were captured by the Germans. Now 93 years old, Luke recalls his experiences as a soldier, prisoner of war, and what it was like to see the Lady of Liberty upon his return to America. Luke and his family operated McLaurine’s Bakery in Memphis for over seventy years started in 1922 by his parents.
