As the prophet Amos continues to warn of God’s impending judgment, Bethel and Gilgal paid no attention and perish. Dr. McGee reminds us that, like Israel, we all must be prepared to meet God someday, and in His mercy, the invitation to forsake our idol worship and return to Him remains open.
Turn from sin; judgment is coming! That’s the message the prophet Amos was sent to tell Israel. Amos’ message was anything but subtle, in fact he even used biting sarcasm, reminding people of the famine, droughts, locusts, and warfare that came before.
