"Eda" is the oldest of three sisters. Their grandmother secretly talks about God in a godless country, closed off from the world. No one trusts anyone. Education is paramount to her family, and she is obedient. Communism begins to fall when she is fourteen. Churches open, and she hears an evangelist on TV and prays with him. Someone gives her a Bible, and she reads voraciously. As a teenager working at a public radio station, she repels the advances of her boss. Civil war in Albania strengthens her faith.
