House or Home - Parenting Edition - Finding Hope for Single Parent and Blended Families, Part 1

Is there hope for single parents and blended families to experience true joy and peace - to find rest and strength in the midst of the journey? In this session, Chip is joined by his wife Theresa to share her story of single parenthood and how God carried her through that difficult time in her life. Whether you’re a single parent, a blended family, or just someone looking for a little encouragement, you’ll want to listen to this hope-filled message. Main PointsA story of hope and restoration - Ruth 1-4Single parenting - principles and practiceMake your relationship with Christ your #1 priority. Get connected with a strong, godly, same sex group for support and accountability. Accept this "season" of your life and set realistic expectations. Remember God can "make-up" for what you can't give your kids. Refuse to become a victim, a martyr, or a super parent. Don't compromise your spiritual and moral standards to "provide a father/mother" for your children. Blended families - principles and practiceCount the cost thoroughly. Get pre-marital counseling from a mutually trusted, biblical, and wise resource. Make your mate your new, unequivocal #1 relationship ahead of children. Develop a weekly communication tool and mechanism to wrestle family conflicts, schedules, and miscommunication to the ground in a nonthreateneing and safe environment. Make the spiritual development of your marriage and family the utmost priority; only God and supernatural love can make this work - you don't have that apart from vital union with Christ in the context of a strong, loving, biblical community. Remember it will take time, it will be harder than you thought, and it can be a glorious testimony of God's restoration and redemption - so don't quit, don't withdraw, don't bail out, and know that God will bring results. - James 1: 2-4; Hebrews 10: 36Broadcast ResourceDownload Free MP3 Message Notes Additional Resource MentionsFree Parenting Resources About Chip IngramChip Ingram’s passion is helping Christians really live like Christians. Special moments with people we love are priceless. And once in awhile we experience the pure joy of gathering and really enjoying one another’s company. Do you know God’s preparing a place where His children will enjoy those priceless relationships - forever? Theresa Ingram reminds us that that’s God’s promise. Main PointsGod is preparing a home for me. - John 14: 1-3What is my home like? - Revelation 21-22: 5How can I live with the awareness each day that I am "Heaven bound"? Faith is being sure and certain about unseen hopes and realities. Faith views things through spiritual eyes and perceives things invisible to the natural eye; believing when you can’t see the answer. Faith is not based on feelings; faith trusts God in spite of how you feel. Faith is not an evidence of outward circumstances. The outward circumstances may look impossible, but faith trusts in God in spite of how things look. Faith is not something that acts automatically; it’s not something that acts magically-not like a thermostat that automatically turns on and off. Faith is an activity; it has to be exercised. It does not come into operation by itself; you have to put it into operation. You put it into operation as you walk in obedience to God no matter what the circumstances look like. He Holds Me Forever - A Great Big Hug that Lasts Forever, Part 1

Some people hug better than other people. Sometimes it feels like you’re hugging a 2 x 4, and other times it’s so soft and cushy it almost feels like you can’t breathe. Great aunts hug that way! Near the end of His time on earth, Jesus told His disciples, I have a new commandment for you; from this point forward, I want you to love one another, as I have loved you.
