A New Beginning is the daily, half-hour radio program featuring pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie. Greg is senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside and Irvine, California. With some 15,000 members and multiple campuses, Harvest has become one of the largest churches in America. Greg teaches God's Word in understandable, practical and sometimes humorous ways--equipping listeners with the necessary tools to live out their faith. Since 1990 Harvest has hosted large-scale evangelistic events throughout the United States called Harvest Crusades. More than 5 million people have attended these life-changing crusades.
When you think back on your spiritual journey and how it was that you came to Christ, most likely there was at least one human being involved in the process. Aren’t you thankful for that person? Well, we each have the opportunity to be “that person” for someone else. It’s God’s plan for disseminating the Good News. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, as part of his series called Refresh, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how refreshing it is when we follow through with our evangelism privilege and responsibility.
We all have heard of the horrible fire that hit Lahaina, Maui—where our church Harvest Kumulani is located—back in August last year. It’s one of the worst in American history, sweeping the island and destroying anything in its path. People lost their homes, livelihoods, and, tragically, some even lost their lives. The majority of our congregation on Maui worked and lived in and around Lahaina, meaning that many at Harvest Kumulani lost their homes, jobs, or both in one night. But our church has a great sense of ohana, or, “family.”
Some seem to believe the realm of evangelism is for “men of the cloth” . . . for pastors, ministers, evangelists. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie says it’s a privilege and responsibility shared by all believers. In recent days, he’s been pointing out the tremendous lessons we can learn from Jonah’s success in Nineveh. It was the most successful evangelistic gathering in history. And there are six practical lessons we can learn from that account. Let’s take some notes.
